It would be nice if Philips Hue bulbs could integrate with any Zigbee capable hub (eg. However, now having it I can appreciate that for the small footprint that it now takes up beside my router it provides significant improvements in response and ease of setup. The bridge is something that had originally turned me off of Philips Hue because I didn’t want yet another box sitting around, taking up space, drawing power etc. We now use multiple scenes and integrations with things like smart locks and sensors and have 6 of the Philips dimmer switches which are very useful around the house.Īdditionally we can still use the hardwire switches if we just want to turn the light on by flicking the switch off than on again (of course you can turn them off at anytime the same way but then they can no longer be addressed until you turn that switch back on). The lights respond as they should and the only times I have struggled have been due to power or network problems (which were my fault because we were moving things around a lot after moving in). Since installing the lights we have really not had any troubles at all. Well established technology (use Zigbee for communication) ![]() The main things that turned me over the Hue where: We were not totally new to smart lighting, having had LIFX 1000 bulbs for bedside and living room lamps over the past 4 years but LIFX do not have the same range of products and when I went looking for the outdoor Bollards I became convinced to give Hue a try. We have 14 Downlights (using e27 Ambient White bulbs), A mirror light and 5 outdoor bollards. I installed Hue lights in my home about 3 months ago after we moved in. There's page after page of one star reviews on the Google Play Store with consumers having similar frustrations so I am clearly not the only one. For the price of Phillips they should be a delight. The app is garbage and I can't wait to get rid of the Phillips bulbs (which I only bought because I couldn't find anything other "smart" bulbs in an E27) I've got TP link bulbs in all my other smart lights which are cheaper and have worked faultlessly for 5+ years and I never have any problems voice controlling them via Google home. Read more products I would like to save others their money and sanity. I very rarely leave negative reviews but for such allegedly premium. It takes between 30secs to a full minute to find the lights when I open the app, refuses to synch with Google home, gets stuck in error loops, the "routines" set up has no repeat function (so only fires once and then you have to reset it every day) you can't choose a colour or brightness for routines, you can't change the colour of multiple bulbs at once, it refuses to control the lights unless I'm at home connected to the WIFI. I can not explain how frustrating the hue app is. If you can't get a light right then what have the rest of the more substantial appliance range become since I last bought one? I have no intention of finding out. If you can't get the technology part right at least offer your buyers a remote control option to access all functionality.Ī long time fan of Phillips this is so bad they are now on my will never buy again list. Absolute fail and shocking at the price point of this light. ![]() This has gone from requiring downtime of about 3-6 hours a week of fiddling around to now total failure where the light can only be used on its manual setting which is basically removing 95% of the light range functionality.įail Phillips. Read more device even appear in standard bluetooth even when you put the light basically onto of the phone or iPad. ![]() Constant clunky time consuming updates, deleting and reloading the app, won't recognise sign-in, won't connect through the app nor does the. The app really lets this down and categorising this as an abysmal failure is being kind. The light itself is great but the power cord design is a huge fail and makes placement when on power akward. The replacement seems to be this Phillips Hue light. Unfortunately they don't seem to be available in Australia anymore. I have one of the original Jedi lights with remote control that is absolutely fantastic.
